THE TRI-COUNTY (AL) CHAPTER SENDS SURVIVAL KITS TO HAITI

Under the leadership of Betty Underwood, President of the Tri-County (AL) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated, the International Trends and Services (ITS) Facet sponsored a service project to aid women and girls in Haiti. This chapter level project is a contribution to the national ITS Facet Linking to Haiti objective, and reflects the International Trends and Services current theme of “Expanding the Links Presence.”

The Facet members gathered on a recent Sunday in April to assemble one hundred kits, which contained items such as soap, deodorant, lotion, toothpaste and toothbrush, comb, and washcloth. Since the 2010 earthquake that devastated Haiti, there has been an increased need for daily hygiene essentials. For several women and girls in Haiti, these kits will supply them with these basic hygiene items.

Janice Jackson, the Tri-County (AL) Chapter ITS Facet Chair, applauds her Co-Chair, Rukiya McClain and the ITS Facet members for their support and participation in this meaningful service activity, which exemplifies “Expanding the Links’ Presence “ to the women and girls of Haiti.
