The Tri-County (AL) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated welcomed eight new inductees on Saturday, June 15 2013, at The Summit Club in Birmingham.  Joining “Linkdom” as Tri-County (AL) members are Brooke Adams, Wardine Alexander, Nanette Baldwin, Kathy Bonds, Judge Agnes Chappell, Linda Parson, Sharon Sherrod and Teresa Williams.  The induction ceremony was led by Betty Jean Hill-Underwood, Chapter President and Barbara Allen, Chapter Vice-President. Immediately following the ceremony, members of Tri-County (AL) Chapter, visiting Links from The Magic City Chapter and Birmingham Chapter, Connecting Links (Husbands), family and friends continued the morning with a Brunch in honor of the new Links.

After weeks of workshops and preparation, these talented, professional women implemented a service project titled “Financial Literacy Workshops for High School Seniors”, where mini lessons were presented to high school seniors during morning assemblies. The focal points were money management, budgeting and credit protection.  The financial curriculum presented was made possible through partnership with Wells Fargo Bank to provide the money skills needed for life.  This project was designed to align with The Links, Incorporated’s “Services to Youth” facet.  The Links, Incorporated is an international, not-for-profit corporation, established in 1946.  The membership consists of 12,000 professional women of color in 276 chapters located in 41 states, the District of Columbia and the Commonwealth of the Bahamas.  It is one of the nation’s oldest and largest volunteer service organizations of extraordinary women who are committed to enriching, sustaining and ensuring the culture and economic survival of African Americans and other persons of African ancestry.  Chartered June 12, 2010, Tri-County (AL) Chapter celebrated its 3rd year of service in the Jefferson, Shelby and St. Clair County areas.  Forty-two members strong, Tri-County (AL) Chapter will begin and plan programs and activities for another year at the Chapter’s Retreat.
